MANCHESTER, NETRALNEWS.COM – Manchester United's hopes of retaining Juan Mata is decreasing after the player was said to be considering another offer from a Champions League club. This was revealed by Mata's father who is also his agent, Juan Mata Senior.

The 30-year-old's contract will run out this summer and reports say he has held talks with Barcelona to move to Camp Nou. Mata has played 29 times so far this season and his father, Juan Mata Senior, has revealed new requirements put forward by Manchester United.

"Manchester United have offered a contract extension to Juan, we are very happy," he told Cadena SER, which was reported by Sky Sports.

However, several Champions League teams are also interested in getting the services of the former Chelsea and Valencia player.

"Spain is possible, but today i do not want to talk about it, it hasn't been decided yet."

Mata joined Manchester United from Chelsea in January 2014 with a contract value of 37.1 million pounds (around IDR 688.2 billion), which broke the club record at that time. Since then, Mata has scored 44 goals in 215 appearances for Manchester United.

However, when asked whether the former Spanish national team player could leave United to join another English Premier League club, Mata Senior considered the possibility of very little to move to Manchester City or Liverpool.

"City? It's not the ideal club for him," he added. "There are two more who will definitely be rejected, namely Liverpool and City."

"We must respect Manchester United fans, he (Mata) is very loved here," his father added.
