LONDON, NETRALNEWS.COM - Jose Mourinho has expressed interest in resuming his managing career in the German Bundesliga competition.

The 56-year-old is still unemployed since being sacked by Manchester United in December 2018 after two and a half seasons at Old Trafford.

Mourinho, who was previously linked with returning to Real Madrid before Zidane's appointment, has indicated plans to return to managing at club level in the summer ahead of the 2019/20 season.

"The Bundesliga provides an interesting competition for me, especially by mid-table teams, which continued to improve and thus create good overall competition," Mourinho told German magazine SPORTbild.

"The stadiums are full, and there is great organization and good tactical approach in many teams - I think the Bundesliga is very interesting."

In March, Mourinho admitted that he had refused a number of offers to train and also refused to deal with the national team because he was still challenged training a club.

However, when asked about the possibility of training Bayern Munich, the Portuguese coach hopes the current coach Niko Kovac is given time to succeed.

"Of course, Bayern are a big club. I hope Niko will maintain his position because he has worked very hard to reach that level," Mourinho added, as quoted by Sky Sports.

Bayern currently sit at the top of the Bundesliga, one point ahead of Borussia Dortmund with six matches left.
