Salah Prefers Winning English Premier League over Champions League

LIVERPOOL, NNC - Liverpool and Egyptian striker Mohamed Salah says he is ready to sacrifice his dream of winning the Champions League if that could bring Liverpool to win the Premier League title this season.

Jurgen Klopp's side are currently second in the league, one point behind Manchester City with eight matches left.

They face Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich in the Champions League last 16 second leg on Wednesday, with the tie still at a draw after a goalless draw at Anfield.

Although Salah acknowledges that the Champions League is "the most prestigious competition" for him, he would be happy for Liverpool to win the Premier League.

Salah said "I will be honest with you, the most prestigious competition for me is UCL (UEFA Champions League). But the dream for all in the city and the club is the Premier League," Salah said, as quoted from Skysports, Tuesday (03/12/2019).

"So, I like to sacrifice my dreams for their dreams, but if we win both, it will be great and this is what we are trying to do," he added.

Salah is currently in the spotlight due to poor form in the last few games. But Jurgen Klopp said he was not worried by a lack of goals from Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian national player said he hoped current leaders Manchester City to slip, and Liverpool, and himself, were ready to use the momentum.

"The competition is very tight and we face the remaining difficult matches, and so are they," Salah added.

"All you can do is win your matches and hopefully they fail in one of them so we can win the title. My mind is sharp and there is pressure but I am mentally strong and we just keep going forward."

"We'll see what we can do at the end of the season but mentally I'm ready for everything."
