BUENOS AIRES, NNC - Argentine soccer legend Diego Maradona considers Manchester United's architect, Jose Mourinho as the best coach in the world right now, even surpassing his rival at Manchester City, Pep Guardiola.
"As a coach I still have to learn a lot, for that maybe I should go to Manchester and meet Mourinho to ask a lot of things," said Maradona said in an interview with Spanish media, Marca on Wednesday.
Maradona went on to say that Mourinho better than Guardiola, who he said was nothing more than a successor to the strategy invented by Johan Cruyff.
"I would appreciate Pep's ability to take advantage of the strategies Johan Cruyff gave him," he said.
On the other hand, according to Maradona, Guardiola has the luxury of getting any type of player he needs.
Despite Maradona’s opinion, the English Premier League standings show the fact that Guardiola is currently successfully driving City to the top of the standings with 32 points and still unbeaten in the first 12 matches.
Under Guardiola's direction, last weekend City won an easy 3-1 victory over Mourinho's United, who are currently in eighth place with a collection of 20 points.
