JAKARTA, NNC – English national team striker Harry Kane leads as current top scorer at the 2018 World Cup after Kane scored three goals when England faced Panama national team in the second match of Group G.
In that match, England defeated Panama 6-1 at Nizhny Novgorod Stadium, Russia, Sunday, June 24, 2018.
Kane scored two of his three goals from the penalty spot. Now he has collected five goals in this 2018 World Cup, one goal ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal) and Romelu Lukaku (Belgium).
Of the top 10 players on this list, there are only two players from non-European countries. Brazilian player, Philipe Coutinho ranked sixth with a collection of two goals.
In addition to Coutinho, Nigerian striker, Ahmed Musa also has scored two goals.
This is interesting because in the previous edition, World Cup gold shoe winner came from South America, as quoted from FIFA.
