MADRID, NNC – Zinedine Zidane's departure as Real Madrid coach was surprising. However, for the defender and captain of EL Real, Sergio Ramos, has already predicted it.
Ramos was one of those who was told by Zidane directly related to his resignation. Even so, Ramos admitted that he had predicted this since three months ago. It was revealed by the Spanish national team defender after Madrid won 3-1 against Paris Saint-Germain at home in February.
"Maybe he will win the Champions League again and then wants a pause, it is possible," Ramos said at the time as reported by Marca.
"Everyone feels confident that if he wins it he will stay, but he may want to take a break, you will never know," he said.
During his 2.5-year time with Madrid, Zidane won nine trophies. In addition to three Champions League trophies, he also won a La Liga title and the Spanish Super Cup as well as two European Super Cup titles and an Club World Cup.
Zidane surprisingly announced his resignation as coach of Real Madrid on Thursday (5/31/2018).
