BANGKOK, NNC - The Indonesian team failed to the semi-finals of the badminton tournament Uber Cup 2018 after being defeated by the host Thailand 2-3 in Bangkok on Thursday (5/24/2018).
The match at the Bangkok Impact Arena was held tight until the fifth party, in which Ruselli Hartawan had to acknowledge the superiority of Busanan Ongbamrungphan.
Despite the full support of its audience, Thailand has to fight hard to overcome the resistance of Indonesia in each party played.
Ruselli Hartawan, ranked 77th in the world, tries to offset her 22nd-ranked opponent.
However Busanan can show her play and be able to defeat Ruselli 21-9, 21-12.
Thus, Thailand advanced to the semi-finals to challenge China, which in the quarter-final beat Denmark.
Meanwhile in other Uber Cup matches, Japan also advanced to the semi-finals after beating Taiwan 3-1.
Japan's opponents in the semi-finals are South Korea who knocked out Canada 3-1.
Indonesia last won the Uber Cup in 1996 and until now has not been able to re-seize the women world badminton supremacy title, reported Antara.
