LE MANS, NNC - Ducati rider Andrea Dovizioso admitted he has not been able to forget his blunder at the fifth MotoGP 2018 series race. Because of his carelessness, Dovizioso failed to finish the race at the French GP.
In the race that took place at the Circuit Le Mans, France, Sunday (5/20/2018), Dovizioso slipped in the sixth corner after successfully overtaking teammate, Jorge Lorenzo on the fourth lap.
The fatal mistake cost the Italiano racer to fail to continue the race. "I made a small mistake, which I cannot accept because if we want to compete in the championship against Marc (Marquez), we cannot do that," he said to Eurosport.
In the previous series, he was also involved in crashes with Lorenzo and Dani Pedrosa in Spanish MotoGP.
The accident at Le Mans made the distance of the MotoGP standings to get even wider. Dovizioso is now in the eighth position with 46 points, a massive 49 points behind Marquez who is at the top.
"It was a difficult thing to accept because it was not common in my career. It was very bad and I needed at least a day to get through this situation."
"We have a chance to win because my bike is working well today, that's why I am very disappointed, because when the title was in the you hands, you turned out to make an unacceptable mistake," he concluded.
