LEICESTER, NNC – Leicester City team is confident to be able to defend its star, Riyad Mahrez, not to leave the King Power Stadium. The statement was made directly by the manager, Claude Puel.
In the winter transfer market of January 2018, the future of Riyad Mahrez is again speculated. There are some great teams in the English Premier League like Arsenal and Liverpool who want to get the service of Mahrez.
Moreover, Riyad Mahrez is associated to be bought by Liverpool to replace the position of Philippe Coutinho who decided to move to Barcelona.
Even rumors strongly circulated that Mahrez last week had undergone medical tests with the Liverpool following a transfer fee of GBP50 million. But, the news was then refuted and Mahrez is still playing for Leicester.
With the winter transfer market remaining two weeks away, the time of Liverpool, Arsenal, and club enthusiastic in Mahrez is increasingly narrow. Moreover, Leicester to this day still insists on maintaining the Algerian-passport player.
"I'm very confident with Riyad. We can see how he enjoys his game, we can see he is very happy with his team-mates, and it is important to keep our best players," Puel said as quoted by Soccerway.
"The transfer market is open and it's fair if during that our best players are linked with other clubs," he continued.
"But I'm not afraid of that because there is great spirit and good attitude in this squad," he concluded.
