JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS – Persebaya Surabaya—which had its status reaffirmed by PSSI—finally has a new owner. Jawa Pos Sportainment has officially managed the Bajul Ijo.
Jawa Pos Sportainment had just held a general assembly of shareholders. The shareholders agree that Jawa Pos will control 70% shares in Persebaya. The remaining stakes will be owned by the 20 club members of Koperasi Surya Abadi Persebaya (SAP).
The change of shares composition will be followed with changes in board of directors. Azrul Ananda will become president director of Persebaya Indonesia.
“We have been asked to manage Persebaya since a couple of years back. Moreover, Jawa Pos has built a long history with this club. Jawa Pos continues to support Persebaya, even though the two cannot partner yet,” Azrul said.
Azrul expects Persebaya to be able to become a professional help, as well as assist in developing Indonesia’s football. “We will prepare long-term programs, since we are the majority shareholder,” he added. (*)
