JAKARTA, NNC - Travel consultant and influential social media figure Nila Tanzil has published a book titled The Art of Giving Back to share the joy of sharing goodness based on her experience in establishing the Taman Bacaan Pelangi (Rainbow Reading Garden) in Flores, East Nusa Tenggara.
Based on the press statement from Bentang Pusaka, the publisher of The Art of Giving Back, which was received in Jakarta on Saturday (11/17), besides sharing experiences, Nila also wanted to influence the public so that sharing goodness could be part of the public's lifestyle.
Singer Vidi Aldiano, one of the supporters of the establishment of the Taman Bacaan Pelangi in Flores, which was initiated by Nila, wrote his commentary on the book.
"One of the happy moments I felt was when I opened a library for my younger brothers and sisters in Flores in 2017 with Taman Bacaan Pelangi. Not only was I happy when I could open the library, but the moment sharing stories with the younger readers, dedicating time with them, singing together, and also playing with those amazing kids made me really happy, "he said.
A similar experience was also written by Olga Lydia, who also gave a comment for The Art of Giving Back. "The art of giving is the joy of serving, because any gift for the purpose of serving will bring joy to the recipient and also the giver, whether it is a book or a sweet smile," the actress and presenter said.
As a consultant for travel and influential social media figure, Nila had the experience of visiting 34 countries. She also explores Indonesia's natural wealth, especially in the Eastern region.
For Nila, traveling makes her know herself better and be more tolerant of others. In 2009, when she visited Nampar Village in Flores, East Nusa Tenggara, Nila found small children begging for money from tourists.
Then, Nila decided to visit the children's school, which later made her concerned because the library there lacked books, even though the book was a world window that was very important for the future of children.
Since then, Nila has been determined to make children in Eastern Indonesia become literate through literacy, and stop being beggars. With all her efforts, she later established Taman Bacaan Pelangi.
Nila is also willing to leave her rising career in the corporate world. Now, Taman Bacaan Pelangi have benefited more than 30,000 children, distributed more than 300,000 books, and established 104 libraries in various regions in Eastern Indonesia.
For her work so far, Nila has been awarded various awards, including "10 2016 Iconic Women", "Forbes Indonesia 10 Inspiring Women 2015", "Kartini Next Generation 2013" from the Ministry of Communication and Information and the Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection, and also recognized as one of "10 EY Entrepreneur of the Year finalists" which is a prestigious award from Ernst & Young.
As reported by Antara, Saturday (11/17), Bentang Pustaka as the publisher opened the order period for The Art of Giving Back on November 6-30 2018 through mizanstore.com. During that period, one book purchased meant buying a children's reading book to donate to children in Eastern Indonesia.
