One Killed in Anning City campus in China

JAKARTA, NNC - An attack by a student wielding a weapon on a campus ground in Anning City, Yunnan Province, China, on Friday (Nov 23), has claimed one casualty.

Local authorities said Saturday that the incident caused nine students and two lecturers of the Yunnan Traffic Technician College to be injured.

The suspect, identified as 20-year-old Yang, assaulted a group of students and teachers with an unspecified weapon on campus at 11:26 a.m. local time, Friday, Nov. 23.

So far there has been no further information on the motive of the attack, the China Daily reported.

Yang, who is a second year student at the university, was detained by the local police.

Police are currently investigating the incident which has troubled China's mainland,citing Antara.
