Meaning Behind Design of Semanggi Interchange

JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM - Simpang Susun Semanggi or Semanggi Interchange which is designed with four ears, symbolizing the four directions of the winds, namely the West, East, North, and South, turns out has its own meaning.

"It shows the Unity of Indonesia," said Jakarta Governor Djarot Saiful Hidayat at City Hall Jakarta, Monday (7/17/2017).

Not only that, Djarot also mentioned the meaning of the pillar construction of the Semanggi Interchange in the shape of the letter V, where V itself has the meaning of victory.

"Meaning, if we want to be a winning nation, we must unite. That's the meaning I think," said the former Blitar Mayor.

Soft launching of Simpang Susun Semanggi is planned at the end of this month, precisely on July 29, 2017. Meanwhile, the inauguration is on August 17, 2017 by President Joko Widodo.

At the time of soft launching later, there will also be announcement for the name of the street, namely Simpang Susun Semanggi. The name was chosen after a leadership meeting this morning.

Simpang Susun Semanggi is the name proposed by Basuki Tjahaja Purnama or Ahok while still serving as Governor of Jakarta. (*)
