JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM - The Government of Indonesia through the Directorate General of Climate Change Control starts preparing a strategy for the implementation of the Conference of The Parties (COP)-23 of United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in Bonn, Germany, November 6-17, 2017.
Director General of Climate Change Control of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry Nur Masripatin said the COP meeting is somewhat different from the previous one, i.e., one conference, two zones concept with two main agenda of COP-23 negotiation and non-negotiation.
"In general, the mission of the Indonesian delegation to the COP-23 is ensuring that the interests of Indonesia are accommodated in the results of the detailed 'Modality, Procedure and Guidelines' (MPGs) for the implementation of the 'Paris Agreement'," Nur said in a press release Sunday, (7/9/2017).
Some preparations have been made by the Directorate General of Climate Change Control serving as National Focal Point (NFP), among others, the formation of negotiator team, Indonesian pavilion team, preparation of Indonesian side event with theme "Forest and Land Sector", compilation and submission of Indonesian submission, and guidance of Indonesian delegation which has been started since June 2017.
Related to the making of the pavilion, Nur also advised to be aligned with the mission of the Indonesian delegation in negotiations, and relevant stakeholders are expected to share information on the data and the results of technical analysis to support the negotiations.
The preparation of the Indonesian Pavilion was also presented by Expert Staff of Environment Minister for Natural Resources Economy Sector Agus Justianto who mentioned the theme of this pavilion this time: "A Smarter World: Green Solutions for A Changing Climate".
"The theme is divided again into four sub-themes, namely strategy, plan, implementation, and review," added Agus. (*)
