Visiting Temples, Obama Saw Testament of Religious Tolerance in Indonesia

MAGELANG, NETRALNEWS.COM - President Barack Obama can also voice a peace message which he actually saw while visiting the Hindu and Buddhist temples.

President Director of PT Candi Borobudur Prambanan and Ratu Boko Edy "Tyo" Setijono, said the Buddhist temple Borobudur and Hindu temple Prambanan which are still maintained in the middle of the Muslim majority community is a testament to tolerance.

"As a world leader he can also voice the message of world peace by taking the example of Borobudur and Prambanan. Buddhist and Hindu temples, but still can be preserved and well maintained in the midst of the Muslim community until now. This is a message for a life that is tolerant, peaceful and harmony, amid religious conflicts in an increasingly worrisome world," added Tyo, in a press release on Saturday (7/1/2017).

Tyo called Obama was very impressed with his visit to Borobudur.

Tyo related Obama was very glad and happy to visit again the Borobudur and Prambanan who became Obama's admiration since childhood.

On his visit, continued Tyo, Obama had taken photos among others in a corner on the 7th floor of Borobudur temple with the background of the main stupa, then took pictures with views of Menoreh hill.

"Up at the main stupa [the peak], he said that Borobudur Temple is very beautiful, supported by a very peaceful environment situation. I explained that around Borobudur there are a lot of rice fields, thus becoming green," he concluded. (*)
