JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM - Jakarta will soon become the center of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSME) policy formulation in Asia through the initiation of a meeting of SME Ministers in Asia. The meeting is planned to be held regularly in the capital city of Indonesia.
President of International Council for Small Business (ICSB) of Indonesia Hermawan Kartajaya in Jakarta, Thursday (6/29), said the meeting of Asian SME Ministers in Jakarta is expected to be able to make Jakarta a think-tank hub of MSME policy making.
"This is an Indonesian initiative approved by ICSB members from Asia to host an Asian MSME Ministerial-level event between two Annual Conferences," said Hermawan, who was elected as President (ACSB) of the Asia Council for Small Business for the period 2016-2019.
That position makes Indonesia as the leader of the ICSB regional organization of Asia which currently consists of 11 countries in Asia.
A year later, on June 28, 2017 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, at the ACSB meeting it was decided that The 6th ACSB Conference will be held in Naypithaw, Myanmar, on 14-15 October 2017.
While The 7th ACSB Conerence will be held in Tokyo, Japan, on 9-12 September 2018. While Jakarta had hosted a similar event in 2016.
"And the new initiative is the implementation of The First Miniserial Open Forum (MOF) which for the first time will be held in Jakarta on 7-8 May 2018 in the sixth Jakarta Marketing Week at Mal Kota Kasablanka," he said.
He stressed the importance of organizing the event in order to have an opportunity to exchange experiences from policymakers related to MSMEs in Asia.
"The Indonesian Minister of Cooperatives and SME will be the Host and Chair of the Inter-Ministerial Meeting of Asia," said the man who is also the Special Staff of the Minister of Cooperatives and SMEs.
He added that the plan of the new program will be made every year with a permanent place or settled in Jakarta.
"Thus Jakarta will become a central formulation of policies related to MSMEs in Asia," he said.
Hermawan as well as ask for support of all stakeholders related to SMEs in Indonesia to support Jakarta as the center of the most calculated SME policy in Asia and the world.
