Two Foreigners Skimming ATM Caught Red Handed by Police

JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM - Two members of East Jakarta Police Sabhara (Guarding) unit Adjunct First Inspector (Aiptu) Andi and Aiptu Kelana Arif managed to thwart attempt to skim Automated Teller machine (ATM) of Bank Mandiri conducted by two foreign nationals.

At that time, the two officers escorted money supply to Bank Mandiri ATM via Jalan Jatinegara, Jalan Matraman Raya, Jalan Gunung Sahari, and Pasar Pagi Mangga Dua routes, Monday (4/3/2017).

At the moment in Mangga Dua market, two personnel from ATM cash loading service provider who reported incident of breaking of Bank Mandiri ATM around the site. The people say that a person with certain characteristics can withdraw money without ATM withdrawal receipts.

"After receiving a report, then both the Sabhara Force members checked and it turned out right. They saw a person whose gesture was suspicious," said PR Division Head of East Jakarta Police Commissioner Wasiem of Police, Tuesday (4/11/2017).

Commissioner Wasiem added, of observation, it seemed a skimmer was making withdrawals in the room where the ATM is located. Meanwhile, another one was seen watching outside the ATM.

"At the time of inspection, the receipt issued was empty, but he could make a withdrawal. It was the time both members made an arrest," Wasiem explained.

Together with the two actors, police also seized one mobile phone,one black bag, nine Taiwanese ATM cards, receipts of withdrawal and unknown amount of money.

"Furthermore, both actors who are citizens of China and Taiwan as well as the evidence were secured and handed over to the North Jakarta Police," Wasiem said. (*)
