President Joko Widodo Instructs Ministers to Follow Up on Saudi Arabia Investment Plan

JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM - Indonesia President Joko Widodo has instructed his cabinet ministries and leaders of non-ministerial government institutions follow up on the results of his visit to Saudi Arabia last weekend.

Previously, the Saudi Arabian government was conducting studies an investment worth US$ 6 billion after a meeting between President Joko Widodo and officials from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

"First, it is related to an additional 10,000 quota for our prospective [Hajj] pilgrims. Then, the second is related to the desire to increase Saudi Arabia's investments in Indonesia, "President Joko Widodo said in Jakarta on Thursday (04/18/2019).

He said both points must be immediately followed up immediately so that this response will soon be completed, especially the investment plan from Saudi Arabia in Indonesia as he had previously said. "The Saudis want Indonesia to work together by making our country a hub for the petrochemical industry in Southeast Asia," said the President.

This was conveyed when President Joko Widodo opened a meeting on following up on a visit to Saudi Arabia with a number of Working Cabinet ministers at the Merdeka Palace.

Also present on the occasion were Vice President Jusuf Kalla, Coordinating Minister for Economy Darmin Nasution, Coordinating Minister Puan Maharani, Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Secretary of State Pramono Anung, Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko,  Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi, Minister of Religion Affairs Lukman Hakim Saifuddin, State-Owned Enterprises Minister Rini Soemarno, Minister of Industry Airlangga Hartarto, Energy Minister Ignasius Jonan, Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati, and Head of Investment Coordinating Board Thomas Lembong.
