East Java Regional Police Chief Inspector General Luki Hermawan
SURABAYA, NNC - Two Malaysian drug dealers were apprehended by the East Java Regional Police. The two young men from Sarawak, Malaysia, have been named as suspects for bringing1.05 kg of crystal meth.
"Both are international drug dealers identified as Chia Kim Hwa and Henry Lau Kie Lee," East Java Regional Police Chief Inspector General Luki Hermawan told reporters in Surabaya on Wednesday, Oct 24.
Luki says the two suspects came to Indonesia on October 19 by Air Asia airline. They departed from an airport in Malaysia at 9:00 a.m. and arrived at the Juanda airport in Sidoarjo, East Java, at 11.00 a.m. local time and took a cab to a hotel in Surabaya.
"Once they arrived at the hotel, our team arrested them. The evidence we've obtained was a 1.05 kg meth and was planned to be distributed in the East Java region," he said.
Luki said his department are still investigating how the two suspects could have made it through the airport securityat the airport in Malaysia and Juanda by carrying the illegal substance.
"We are coordinating with Angkasa Pura because they were not detected by the airport security and to tighten its security so that thsi wouldn't happen again in the future," Inspector General Luki said.
He ensured that he will continue to develop the case in order to find out their suppliers and customers in Indonesia.
