KENDARI, NNC - Southeast Sulawesi Regional Police managed to confiscate 1,700 grams of methamphetamine (meth) obtained from 16 suspects who were arrested from August to September 2018.
South Sulawesi Police Chief Brig. Gen. of Police Iriyanto said three of the 16 suspects were the result of arrests that were quite large with the number of Evidence reaching 1,600 grams of meth.
"These last three people are quite large catches with [meth] weight of 1,600 grams for August," said Iriyanto, Thursday through a press conference received in Jakarta (9/13/2018).
Iriyanto further said in addition to evidence of methamphetamine, the Southeast Sulawesi Regional Police also secured evidence of IDR7 million in cash from the suspects. The arrest of group-one narcotics dealers is the result of the development of previous narcotics abuse cases that have been handled by the Southeast Sulawesi Regional Police.
"So we reveal this network by land, sea and air, i.e., through flight or package, and all of this is inseparable from investigations, developments that are directly captured, both from the development of our prisoners, both here and in prison," he said.
At present the Police are still developing cases to expose other perpetrators.
Meanwhile, the 16 suspects who have been detained will be subject to Law No. 35 on drug abuse with a maximum threat of 20 years in prison up to the death penalty.
