Helicopter Owned by PT IMIP Crashes in Morowali

PALU, NNC - A helicopter owned by PT Indonesia Morowali Industrial Park (IDX:IMIP) reportedly fell in a nickel mining industry area in Bahodopi sub-district, Morowali district, Central Sulawesi on Friday (4/20/2018), at 09.30 WITA.

Public Relations of PT IMIP, Dedi Kurniawan, confirmed the accident. At the time, the helicopter was transporting foreign workers.

He said the helicopter was heading to Kendari Airport, Southeast Sulawesi and had taken off and was about seven minutes on the air.

However, he said, the helicopter turned back toward the helipad. But before it had a chance to land, it crashed around 100 meters from the helipad.

The cause of the accident has not been determined.

Dedi said the company is still coordinating with the National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT).

Currently it is known that passengers in the helicopter were two pilots and six other people who were all foreign nationals from China, as quoted from Antara.

No one was killed, said Dedi, all of them, suffered minor and severe injuries and are currently being treated intensively at PT IMIP’s clinic.

The six passengers are Xi Laiwang, Guan Kejiang, Yang Xun, Zhao Yipu, Du Yifei, and Du Gui, while the two crews are Pilot Capt Rudi A. and technician Daliati Gulo.
