JAKARTA, NNC - Former TNI (Indonesian Military) Commander Retired General Gatot Nurmantyo has met with the Dutch Chief of Defense Admiral Rob Bauer in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, on Thursday (04/12) local time.
In the meeting, they both discuss about the Indonesian Constitution.
"I had the opportunity to do a courtessy call with the Commander of the Dutch Armed Forces in the series of my farewell visits, after retiring from the military," he said in a written statement received in Jakarta, on Friday (04/13).
The former Commander of the Indonesian Army Strategic Reserves Command said the meeting discussed about Indonesia's stance on international conflicts based on the Indonesian Constitution.
"The Indonesian Constitution clearly states that Indonesia is a country that will not carry out attacks on other countries, and is not a country that operates outside the territory of the Unitary State [of Indonesia], unless theere are Indonesians held as hostages and must saved, or to carry out UN peace operations," Gatot said.
The former TNI Chief of Staff also conveyed to the Dutch Chief of Defense that Indonesia was running an active and free politics, so that it would not be part of any blocks or sides.
In response to the visit by Gatot Nurmantyo, Admiral Rob Bauer admitted that he happy with friendship with Gatot, which also reflected the relationship between Indonesia and the Netherlands.
"The relations between Indonesia and the Netherlands are good now, and I hope that in the future it will be better," he added.
