Special Crime Unit Arrest Four Muslim Cyber Army Members on Hate speech

Police arrested four members of the Cyber Army Muslim group for allegedly spreading hate speech.

JAKARTA, NNC - The Directorate of Cyber Special Crime Unit has arrested four members of the Cyber Army Muslim group for allegedly spreading hate speech and provocative issues in social media.

ML (39) from Jakarta was arrested in Sunter, North Jakarta; RSD (34) from Bangka Belitung, in Pangkal Pinang; RS (38) from Bali in Jembrana and YUS from Sumedang, West Java.

Director of Cyber Special Crime Unit, Brigadier General Fadil Imran said the arrest was made in cooperation with the Special Security Directorate of the National Police Security Intelligence Agency.

"They were arrested simultaneously yesterday (Monday) along with evidence of four mobile phone units, three USBs, and two units of laptops," said Fadil in his statement on Tuesday (2/27/2018).

From the results of the investigation, the group often posted provocative issues on social media such as the rise of the communist party, the kidnapping of clerics, and ill-speech toward the president, government, and certain figures.

The group also released virus deliberately sent to people or groups of opponents that resulted in damage to electronic devices owned by the recipients.

The suspects are charged under Article 45A Paragraph (2) Jo Article 28 Paragraph (2) of Law 19/2016 regarding the Amendment of Law 11/2008 on Information and Electronic Transactions (Act ITE) and or Article Jo Article 4 Sub-Article b Number 1 of Law 40/2008 on the Elimination of Racial and Ethnic Discrimination and / or Article 33 of the ITE Law.
