JAKARTA, NNC - After more than ten months left his duty as a senior investigator at the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Novel Baswedan finally arrived in Indonesia on Thursday (2/22/2018).

KPK spokesman Febri Diansyah said returning to work later, Novel is still handling the corruption cases of e-ID card that harm the state finances up to IDR2.3 trillion.

"So [he] is still handling the cases, of course as head of Task Force until now. So far, there has been no change at all," Febri said at KPK Building on Friday (2/23).

However, Febri could not confirm when Novel will return to work as an investigator. The reason, the conditions of his eyes that have not healed completely force him to rest first.

"But when start to work effectively of course depends on the healing process," said Febri.

"The closest and biggest thing is the second phase of surgery, so after the second phase of operation the recovery process will be seen and hopefully not too long later [he] can work in the KPK," he continued.

Febri further stated although it has been long since his leaving the Commission, the position of Novel remains the Head of Task Force of investigation on e-ID card procurement project corruption cases.

Novel Baswedan just returned to Indonesia after undergoing examination of his eyes for 10 months more.

Novel was attacked with acid on the face by two unidentified people on April 11, 2017. At that time, Novel was dealing with e-ID card cases that eventually ensnared House Speaker Setya Novanto and several others.
