JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM - Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, congratulated the new Governor and Vice Governor of Jakarta, Anies Baswedan-Sandiaga Uno.
"Congratulation, hopefully Mr. Anies could be a good governor with Mr. Sandi. He is not the governor of a group, two groups, he is the governor of all," said Luhut in the "Coffee Morning" event with reporters in Jakarta, Tuesday (10/17/2017).
Luhut expects Anies-Sandi to be governor for all Jakartans, not just certain groups.
"Never mention natives of non-natives, do not dichotomize the situation, he must be a governor of all parties, all groups, tribes, religions, because supporters of Mr. Anies come from various people," he said.
Earlier, in his inauguration at City Hall, Monday, Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said it is time native Indonesians to be hosts in their own country.
"In everyday life for centuries, the native people have been oppressed and defeated. Now it is free, it is time we become the hosts of our own country," said Anies.
Unfortunately, his speech that used the term native triggered backlash because the term is already prohibited by Presidential Instruction Number 26 Year 1998 on the termination of the use of native and non-native terms in all formulation and implementation of policies, program planning, or implementation of governmental administration activities, signed by the third President of Indonesia BJ Habibie.
