Four Police Designated as Suspects of Case of Beatings of Journalist in Purwokerto

PURWOKERTO, NETRALNEWS.COM - Four personnel of the Banyumas Resort Police, Central Java, were designated as suspects in a criminal act of beatings and mistreatment against Metro TV reporter Darbe Tyas.

Banyumas Police Chief Adjunct Sr. Comm. of Police Bambang Yudhantara Salamun said apart from the police, there are also suspects from Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) officers.

"The result of our investigation, the suspects were found at this time four people from the police and alleged suspects from Satpol PP there are three people," he said at Banyumas Police Station, Purwokerto, Banyumas Regency, Wednesday (10/11/2017).

The chief of Police said this when he released the results of an investigation on the crime of beatings and ill-treatment experienced by Metro TV reporter Darbe Tyas while covering the forced dissolution of mass protest for the rejection of Baturraden Geothermal Power Plant (PLTPB) project in Purwokerto Square on Monday (10/9) night.

Furthermore, the chief of Police said that the investigation is still under way and implemented by Banyumas Police in cooperation with Police Profession and Security Division as well as Directorate of Intelligence and Security of Central Java Regional Police.

"Furthermore, these four members of the police will be internally handled directly by the Central Java Regional Police," he said.

Meanwhile, three personnel of Satpol PP in Banyumas regency, he said, are still being explored and have not been determined as suspects.

In the pre-reconstruction that was held on Wednesday (10/11) afternoon, he continued, the crime is narrowed to the three personnel of Satpol PP.

"We have 1x24 hours to increase the status of the Satpol PP personnel, and these three people have potential as suspects," he said.
