SEMARANG, NETRALNEWS.COM - President Joko Widodo said advancement of digital technology has influenced society’s lifestyle to wanting faster service.
"The economic landscape is also changing, social interaction will also change, the nation will also change. Purchasing power is declining and after examining the details, there is a shift from offline to online way of life," said the President when delivering his directives to address the media transformation in digital era to the directors and leaders of Jawa Pos Group in Graha Pena, Surabaya, East Java on Sunday (10/8/2017).
According to the President Jokowi, the number of sales in supermarkets and malls have decreased a lot because the public is spending via online marketplaces and social media.
In addition to the sale of goods, the President also reminded how lifestyle changes will impact the media where people will use their own devices to get their news and entertainment.
Jokowi added that innovative people who are promote technological progress should be facilitated by non-constraining regulations.
"This is a problem we are facing, I have also conveyed this to the House and Regional Representatives to not make create too many laws and regulations. We should revise as needed but in a way that accelerates us to innovate," explained President.
The President also reminded that universities can support the readiness of Indonesian human resources in the current era of digital advancement by providing courses that are directly related to the development of technology and the digital economy.
