PUTUSSIBAU, NNC - The Islamic Dayak Family Association (IKDI) has now been formed in Kapuas Hulu, West Kalimantan Province, as a peacekeeper organization and enhances harmony in midst of society.
"We were given a mandate by the administrators of IKDI West Kalimantan, to form a management in Kapuas Hulu," IKDI Kapuas Hulu Chariman Ustad Indra Abdurahman told Antara in Putussibau, Kapuas Hulu, on Sunday, Sept 9.
Abdurahman says that the IKDI organization aims to voice peace and maintain a sense of kinship in the midst of the Kapuas Hulu community comprising various tribes and religions.
The presence of the organization is also to reaffirm that tribe is a destiny and religion is a choice.
"So far, if the Dayak tribe embraces Islam, they're considered Malay, eventhough they are muslim, the Dayak Tribe is still attached and cannot be changed," Abdurahman said.
In fact, Abdurahman said, so far the Dayak Tribe are considered as non-Muslims, although there are many Dayaks who are Muslim.
Abdurahman expects that peace, harmony and sense of family in Kapuas Hulu, West Kalimantan and Indonesia are always maintained.
"We do not want conflicts inorder to gain certain interests, and never erase our identity," said Abdurahman, who is also the Chairman of the Kapuas Hulu Institute of Muslim Development Councils, citing Antara.
The management structure of the Kapuas Hulu Islamic Dayak Association are Chairman Indra Abdurahman, Deputy Chairman I Teofilusianto Timotius or Muhammad Fiqri Timotius, Deputy Chairman II Edi Bs, Secretary Iskandar and Treasury Elly Gus Jam, and a number of other management structure according to the field.
