Director General of Land Transportation , Pudji Hartanto (bijaks)

JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM - The Ministry of Transportation has asked the local governments to actively participate in addressing traffic congestions in their respective regions. Traffic congestion is usually a problem in some areas, namely due to the existence of spill markets.

Pudji Hartanto, Director General of Land Transportation at the Ministry of Transportation, said the severe point of congestion during the Eid al-Fitr homecoming flow due to spilled market has become one of the obstacles in Eid al-Fitr homecoming travels.

He said the actions that can be taken by the local government in overcoming traffic congestions due to spill markets are by setting up fences so that sellers do not trade on the highway, as well as preventing people from crossing carelessly.

"Pedicabs and horse carts should be temporarily suspended but given incentives," Pudji said.

Furthermore, Pudji added that congestion-prone points can also occur at the toll gate, for example from the direction of Jakarta located at the entrance of Cikarang Utama which will be arranged specifically by the Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT) of the Ministry of Public Works and People's Housing.

"Then the toll road exit is also prone to traffic jams, this will be used as a spread of currents to the south, central and north that are controlled by the local police," he concluded.
