Jokowi Targets Lampung-Palembang Toll Road Connection by June 2019 (special)

LAMPUNG, NNC - Indonesia President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo, accompanied by First Lady Iriana Joko Widodo, has inaugurated the Bakauheni-Terbanggi Besar Toll Road (Bakauheni-Lematang Segment and Kotabaru-Terbanggi Besar Segment) and Terminal and Merak and Bakauheni Executive Pier, at Tol Natar Gate, Lampung Selatan Regency, Lampung Province On Friday (03/08/2019) morning.

In his speech, President Jokowi said that the Bakauheni-Terbanggi Besar toll road was the longest toll road ever inaugurated, along 143 kilometers.

"This is the first round that we formalize, and we hope that later in June, Bakauheni will arrive in Palembang soon to be connected to this toll road," Jokowi said in an official statement.

Furthermore, from Lampung to Aceh, the President hopes that by 2024 it will be connected. "God willing, the providences will be connected," he said.

According to the President, many ask themselves, why is this road so fast? He mentioned, the key, in the field. The President considered that Lampung could be used as an example of land acquisition that was so fast.

He also hoped that investment here, infrastructure would be ready, and with fast licensing, would attract as much as possible. So expect this to open up more and more employment fields in Lampung Province.

Accompanying President Jokowi on this occasion included Seskab Pramono Anung, Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi, PUPR Minister Basuki Hadi Muljono, BUMN Minister Rini Soemarno, ATR / BPN Minister Sofyan Djalil, Special Staff Coordinator for President Teten Masduki, and Governor Ridho Ficardo.
