JAKARTA, NNC - Earlier this year Instagram expanded to YouTube by introducing IGTV, a feature available in the Instagram application that allows users to upload vertical content for up to 1 hour in duration.
A few months later, Instagram seemed to be working on the next big thing. The Facebook-owned company is rumored to be launching its own e-commerce application.
In recent times, Instagram has been experimenting in the e-commerce market by allowing business users to mark certain items in their posts.
This allows Instagram users to buy items marked directly from within the application, without needing to leave Instagram.
Now, it seems that the social network will take this feature a step further by introducing another independent application, which is likely to be called IG Shopping.
As the name suggests, this will allow Instagram users to search for products sold by the accounts they follow and immediately buy them from within the new application.
Not only that, like IGTV, the shopping service from Instagram is likely to recommend items and other merchants based on which account the user is following and the purchases they make.
At present, it is not clear when the new feature will be available. However, keep in mind that this is still under development, according to Phone Arena, as quoted by Antara.
