JAKARTA, NNC - Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati said the 2018 Asian Games event which ended on Sunday (9/2/2018), last night was financed by the 2015-2018 State Budget of IDR8.2 trillion.
"The fund is managed by INASGOC with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and is used by INASGOC for all preparation, opening, organizing, and finalizing the implementation of the Asian Games," said the Minister via her personal Facebook fanpage, uploaded on Monday (9/3).
As for the preparation/coaching of athletes in the 2015-2018 period, according to the Minister of Finance, the State Budget has funded IDR2.1 trillion (including bonuses for athletes, coaches and officials).
Meanwhile investment in the construction sector is around IDR13.7 trillion for the cities of Jakarta and Palembang. State Budget financing for this sector has also been prepared from 2015 to 2018.
Minister of Finance confirmed all facilities in the Senayan, Jakarta sports area and in the Jakabaring, Palembang area, road infrastructure including light rail transit (LRT), all could be utilized by the community after the Asian Games, including if there is an international level of sports activities later on.
Finance Minister affirmed people need space to exercise, interact and move so that they remain healthy, productive, and continue to be creatively positive.
"We will maintain state assets to the maximum extent benefit to the wider community," she said.
According to the Minister the coaching of athletes does require a long time at home and abroad. Because of this, she hopes that the 2018 Asian Games will become a stepping stone towards the 2020 Olympics.
The presence of around 17,000 athletes and officials, 7,000 media crews and tens of thousands of spectators from abroad is believed by Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani will also bring economic impact in terms of tourism, culinary, lodging and souvenirs.
On that occasion, Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati expressed her gratitude to the committee, athletes/officials, Ministries/Institutions, sponsors and all parties who have been involved in organizing the 2018 Asian Games.
"The highest appreciation is also for the 15,000 community members who volunteered at this event," she added.
Minister of Finance assured all state expenditures and revenues including sponsors related to Asian Games activities must be managed professionally and with full of integrity, and to be accounted for.
"Accountability is an important thing that is always maintained in every activity using State Budget--money from taxes that you all have paid," said Sri Mulyani.
