JAKARTA, NNC - Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut B Pandjaitan confirmed preparations for Annual Meeting of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank to be held in October 2018 in Bali already 67 reached percent.
Coordinating Minister Luhut said several key tasks, including the preparation of infrastructure and Information Technology facilities, visa procedures, delivery processes and medical plans, were almost completed. Meanwhile for human resources, audio visual and registration process it will go into the implementation phase.
The government has even secured contracts with 21 hotels, opening more than 4,000 rooms for official delegations, 89 venues for meeting rooms, nearly 600 office spaces, and 55 business centers.
This annual meeting will be concentrated in the Nusa Dua area, located on the southernmost part of Bali Island, about 30 minutes drive from Ngurah Rai International Airport Bali.
"For some of you who may be curious, this place is about 100 kilometers from Mount Agung, located in the Northeast of Bali Island," said Coordinating Minister Luhut in a briefing held at IMF headquarters, Jakarta, Thursday (4/19/2018).
Also present on the occasion were Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati and Communications Minister Rudiantara.
Luhut explained as for transportation problems Indonesia will provide sedans for IMF-World Bank from 189 member countries. There will be special arrangements from the President's office for Heads of Government and Heads of State who happen to attend the Annual Meetings.
For other delegations, there will be about 250 buses that will be used as transportation means between places and places of importance during the Annual Meeting. For security, all vehicles entering Nusa Dua area will be asked for special stickers. This is to help traffic congestion.
Furthermore, the most sensitive plan is Security and Evacuation. The Indonesian Security Team, led by the Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) and National Police (Polri), security areas for key points such as the Main Venue, the airport, and the reception venue at Garuda Wisnu Kencana.
"We will do our best to ensure the safety procedures for the event to be carried out to the highest standards while at the same time minimizing disruption and ensuring the comfort level of the participants," said Coordinating Minister Luhut.
