Govt Prepares IDR60 Tln for Rural Labor Intensive Programs

JAKARTA, NNC - Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Puan Maharani is promoting rural development through labor-intensive programs.

"The government policy in rural development in 2018 will be directed to carry out labor-intensive activities in the village," Puan said in a speech at the meeting in Grand Sahid Jaya Hotel, Jakarta, Thursday (2/1/2018).

Puan added that for the program, the government is preparing a budget of IDR60 trillion. "The readiness of the village funds for labor intensive starting this year is IDR60 trillion budget given in three phases starting in next February," she said.

As for absorption, said Puan, 30 percent of the village funds will be used for labor intensive where community involvement in the village should be put forward. "They can earn money and daily wages," she added.

This year, the labor-intensive activities involve 100 regencies and 1,000 villages. Labor-intensive activities will also focus on preventing stunting disorder in toddlers.

"This year we also involve 100 regencies and 1,000 villages synergized with alleviation or intervention related to stunting or dwarf or malnutrition in children," Puan said.
