JAKARTA, NNC - Low cost carrier (LCC) Citilink Indonesia successfully flew 574,867 passengers during the peak season of Christmas and New Year 2018 which ran from December 21, 2017 to January 3, 2018.
"The number increased almost 12 percent compared to the same period the previous year which reached 516,078 passengers," said Director of Citilink Indonesia Juliandra Nurtjahjo in an official statement Friday (1/13/2018).
He explained that the increase in the number of passengers was the result of additional extra seats to accommodate the increasing requests during the Christmas and New Year holidays 2018.
"The positive growth was achieved amid traffic density at airports during peak season, even Citilink Indonesia was able to record the average of the good time flight (OTP - On Time Performance) which was 80 percent," he said.
Meanwhile, the favorite routes during the peak season of Christmas and New Year 2018 were round-trip routes from Jakarta to Surabaya, Denpasar and Yogyakarta.
During the peak season Citilink Indonesia prepared 50,400 additional seats divided into 280 extra flights, up about 20 percent compared to last year's 41,760 additional seats.
Data from the Ministry of Transportation showed that during the Christmas and New Year holidays 2018 air transportation mode had the largest increased in number of passengers compared to other modes of transportation.
The number of passengers reached 7.2 million people, an increase of 12 percent compared to last year's 6.3 million people.
Throughout the 2017 Citilink Indonesia flew 12.7 million passengers. This number of passengers increased by 14.2 percent compared to the year 2016 of 11.08 million passengers.
Citilink Indonesia currently has 65 routes and 268 frequency flights per day to 32 cities in Indonesia and regional with the latest Airbus A320 aircraft.
