JAKARTA, NNC - Starting Tuesday (12/26/2017), the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Train starts to operate. The first train to the airport departed at 03:47 am from Sudirman Baru (New Sudirman) Station a IDR30,000 promotional rate.
"Tomorrow [today] will be tested for IDR30,000, so it can already operate commercially," said Director of Indonesian Railways Company (KAI) Edi Sukmoro at Gambir Station, Jakarta, Monday (12/25).
Edi said the promo price is IDR30,000 because it is still in the pilot phase and for the community to provide input for full operation in January 2018.
In the early stages of operational testing on December 26, 2017-January 1, 2018 the company applies promotional tariff of IDR30,000, starting January 2, 2018 the tariff is set at IDR70,000.
Edi said the airport train consists of six trains per series that can accommodate 272 passengers and 42 trips.
In this initial operation, he said, the Airport Railway will only operate or serve passengers at three stations, namely New Sudirman Station (BNI City), Batu Ceper Station and Soekarno-Hatta Station.
"It should be from Manggarai [Station] because Manggarai still has construction, so we pray hopefully it is quickly completed," he said.
Edi said that Airport Train will be directly connected to the Skytrain which will connect to Terminal 1,2 and 3 of Soekarno-Hatta Airport.
"Tickets can be bought at the stations, because we provide for 'go show', mobile app or vending machine purchases," he said.
