JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM - Telecommunication operator, PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or Telkom provides warranty for communications services in Bali Province to remain smooth despite the eruption of Mount Agung is increasing.
"Security measures for infrastructures are to ensure qualiy of telecommunication services for the community is guaranteed, especially to support coordination by disaster management officers," said Telkom Network & IT Solutions Director Zulhelfi Abidin, Wednesday (11/29/2017).
As a mitigation measure, TelkomGroup has alerted and prepared a contingency plan for all telecommunications infrastructures and services with an affected scenario ranging from a radius of 12 km, 25 km, 50 km to 100 km from the site of Mount Agung.
In addition TelkomGroup has alerted 33 Automatic Telephone Stations (STO) and eight Optical Line Termination (OLT) sites to a radius of 100 km from the site of Mount Agung. In terms of cellular infrastructures, there are 79 Base Transceiver Station (BTS) and 36 Telkomsel sites.
"TelkomGroup also provides free communication facilities in evacuation posts that can be used by evacuees to communicate with relatives and families, including to get information related to volcanic activity," continued Zulhelfi.
In the Karangasem and Klungkung Command Emergency Response Command, TelkomGroup provides Telkomsel BTS Combat, Access Point Wifi.id, and IndiHome service, while at the Rendang Karangasem Mount Agung Monitor Post Site, services of IndiHome and Astinet are available.
Meanwhile, at Bali Police Disaster Contingency Posts at Antiga and Bangli Command Post, TelkomGroup sets up free telephone service to facilitate coordination between disaster security officers.
IndiHome service is also available in seven community evacuation posts, including at Tembok, Sidemen, Bondalem, Les Tejakula, Ulakan Manggis, Rendang Karangasem, and Sambirenteng Posts.
Meanwhile, Infrastructure and Services Control Command at STO Semarapura has been established to monitor infrastructure and telecommunication services.
The monitoring and security of the entire infrastructures involves more than 170 nationally alert personnel in Jakarta, regional in Surabaya and on site at STO Semarapura.
