SUMENEP, NETRALNEWS.COM - President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo says the certification program will reduce the case of land disputes in Indonesia.
"Almost every time I go to the area, the complaints that arise are land disputes. This includes land disputes in Kalimantan, Java, Sumatra, Madura, Sulawesi, and Maluku, among others," President Jokowi said when distributing land certificates to Madura residents in Graha Ai Podi Sumenep, Madura, East Java, Sunday (8/10/2017).
According to the President, the dispute occurred because residents do not have a certificate as proof of rights to the land.
"But if it is already held, there is a claim that can not do anything because the dispute not only with neighbors but with the government, with the company, many problems like this. However, if you already own the land certificate, there would be no problems,” he said.
On that occasion the President asked the residents who had received the certificate to safegoard the document well.
The President also asked the Ministry of Agrarian and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency to complete the issuance of certificates throughout Indonesia as soon as possible. Usually, there are only 400,000-500,000 certificates issued in year. In 2017, President Jokowi asked Minister Sofyan Djalil to complete five million certificates.
"Next year seven million, next year again nine million, this so that land disputes can be reduced," he said.
