LONDON, NETRALNEWS - English Premier League club Chelsea has reported Dynamo Kiev to UEFA after one of their players was subjected to racist abuse by home supporters when Chelsea won in the Europa League last 16 second leg in Kiev last week.

The statement was issued by Chelsea on Monday (3/18/2019) local time. Despite reporting, the Blue did not mention the name of the player who received a racist attack.

However, quoting Sky Sports, winger Callum Hudson-Odoi was targeted by Kiev fans who booed the 18-year-old as a "monkey" when Chelsea won 5-0.

Sky said Hudson-Odoi informed his team mate Cesar Azpilicueta who later complained to the referee after the final whistle.

"We can confirm reports of racist abuse directed at one of our players in the final minutes of the match in Kiev by a small number of host supporters," Chelsea said in a statement on their website here.

"We condemn such disgusting behavior ... We expect UEFA to conduct an investigation and we will be ready to cooperate fully."

The club also said that Chairman Bruce Buck and Club Secretary David Barnard had told UEFA's delegation about this issue. While UEFA has not commented.
