MADRID, NNC - Real Madrid coach Julen Lopetegui claimed to be pessimistic about his future at the Santiago Bernabeu. The coach who was recruited to replace Zinedine Zidane is not even sure whether he would still handle Marcelo and his team mates during the El Clasico match against Barcelona this weekend.
The statement was revealed by the former Spanish national team coach before competing in the Champions League against Vikoria Plzen Wednesday (10/24/2018). As is known, the match was finally won by Los Blancos with a score of 2-1 which slightly elevate the pressure on Lopetegui due to bad results in the previous games.
Responding to the coach's statement, Real Madrid Director, Emilio Butragueno said there was nothing to worry about because Lopetegui would continue to handle Madrid in the El Clasico match or in other words, he would not be sacked before Sunday (10/28).
"Lopetegui will remain at the Nou Camp, in situations like this it is important to remain calm," he said as quoted by Marca.
"We hear a lot of rumors and we make sure the current situation is normal, I hope the team can perform good against Barcelona," he added.
