JAKARTA, NNC - Two Indonesian female weightlifting para-athletes each earned a silver medal at the 2018 Asian Para Games which took place at Balai Sudirman, South Jakarta, on Wednesday, Oct 10.
Those athletes who successfully earned silver medals are Nurtani Purba, in the women's 73-kilogram class with the best lift reaching 115 kilograms, and Situ Mahmudah, in the women's 79-kilogram class with the best lift of 120 kilograms.
Sementara itu, medali emas kelas itu diraih oleh atlet asal China bernama Miaoyu Han dan medali perunggu diraih oleh atlet dari Uni Emirat Arab yang bernama Haifa Naqbi.
Meanwhile, the gold medal was secured by Chinese athlete Miaoyu Han, and the bronze won by Haifa Naqbi from the United Arab Emirates.
President Joko Widodo also witnessed the match until the end.
Jokowi attended the event at Balai Sudirman accompanied by the Youth and Sports Minister Imam Nahrawi, Head of the Presidential Staff Office Moeldoko and the Asian Organizing Committee Para Games (INAPGOC) 2018 Chairman Raja Sapta Oktohari.
The Asian Para Games 2018 was participated by 2,762 athletes from 44 countries. More than 500 gold medals are contested in 18 sports held from October 6-13 2018.
