Lorenzo Rushed to Hospital After Heavy Crash in Thailand

Spaniard Jorge Lorenzo fell off his bike during a second practice in Thailand

BANGKOK, NNC - Spaniard Jorge Lorenzo had to be taken to a hospital on Friday, Oct 5, after an extreme fall during a second practice for the first grand prix in Thailand.

His Ducati team said on Twitter that Lorenzo had to undergo an x-ray scan in a clinic at the Chang Circuit. The x-ray result shows there was severe bruising on his right ankle and left wrist, but no fractures.

The three times MotoGP world champion was then taken to the Buriram hospital to undergo further scans.

Lorenzo, who will join his compatriot Marc Marquez at the Honda team next year, arrived in Thailand with a foot injury from the previous Aragon GP in Spain.

In Friday's incident, Lorenzo was thrown into the air and tumbled to the ground along with his bike.

He was carried off the track on a stretcher. His Italian teammate, Andrea Dovizioso, recorded the fastest time in the session.

In the MotoGP standing, with only five more races remaining this year, Lorenzo is currently in fourth with 116 points behind Marquez.
