JAKARTA, NNC - Indonesian League 1 club coach Bhayangkara FC Simon McMenemy gave praise to the Indonesian national team players as he is rumored to be training the Garuda squad.
"Indonesia currently has good players. So anyone who will train the Indonesian national team will have many choices," Simon said at the College of Police Science Stadium, Jakarta, Wednesday (9/12/2018) night.
Simon himself is currently tightly rumored to be one of the candidates for the Indonesian national team coach replacing the previous coach, Luis Milla.
Bhayangkara FC Manager, AKBP Sumardji admitted there had been talks with the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) even though Simon said he had not known about it.
In the midst of the rumors, Simon McMenemy hopes that the Indonesian national team will get the best results in the 2018 AFF Cup to be held on November 8 to December 15, 2018.
The Scottish coach spoke a little about his experience of facing Indonesia in the AFF Cup in 2010, when he was still coaching the Philippine national team. At that time, he brought the Philippines to the semifinals before being defeated by Indonesia.
"When we faced Indonesia at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium, Jakarta, tens of thousands of people gave direct support to the host. We were afraid to see it," Simon was quoted as saying by Antara.
