MOSCOW, NNC – Striker Mohamed Salah might not perform with Egyptian national team in their first match against Uruguay at the 2018 World Cup in Yekaterinburg on Friday (6/15/2018), the Egyptian soccer union said.
The Liverpool player, who suffered a shoulder injury during the Champions League final against Real Madrid last month, took part in light training on Monday (6/11), but director of the Egyptian football federation Eham Lehita said it was too early to say if Salah could play against Uruguay.
"His condition is gradually improving, but I cannot be sure today whether he can perform at the World Cup first match or not," Lehita said as quoted by Antara from Reuters.
"We hope he will be able to perform at the game," he added.
Aside from Uruguay, Egypt will also compete with Saudi Arabia and host Russia in Group A of the 2018 World Cup.
