BOLOGNA, NNC – Ducati team admitted to a deadlock regarding a contract extension to its flagship rider, Andrea Dovizioso. It was revealed by the team’s boss, Luigi 'Gigi' Dall'Igna.
According to Luigi 'Gigi' Dall'Igna, Ducati continues to offer a new contract to Andrea Dovizioso. But, every start of the conversation always ends with a dead end.
The future of Dovizioso with Ducati is not yet clear. Moreover, in this season Dovi’s performance has been less than ideal, unlike last season where he was impressive.
After standing on the first podium at the Qatar Grand Prix in March, Dovizioso always failed to win in the next three races. The issue of a new contract may be the main reason why the Italian rider started to decline.
"I think we need to resolve this issue as soon as possible, we are negotiating with Andrea, but that is not an easy negotiation," Dall'Igna said as quoted by GPOne on Monday (5/14/2018).
Aside from Dovi, the team is also having issues with Jorge Lorenzo’s contract. But Dall'Igna refuse to comment further. The former Yamaha racer is also still having difficulty to conquer the Desmosedici GP18.
