ROMA, NNC – The Ducati team is apparently very interested to have a MotoGP race in Indonesia. In fact, the Italian team urges the race to be held in Indonesia as soon as possible.
The statement was delivered directly by Sporting Director of Ducati, Paolo Ciabatti. According to Ciabatti, Southeast Asian societies especially Indonesia is very fond of MotoGP.
The 2018 MotoGP marks the increase of the MotoGP race series in Southeast Asia. No longer just Malaysia, this year's race series will also be held in Thailand.
"As soon as possible we have to race in Indonesia," Ciabatti said an interview with Speedweek.
In February, Ducati had visited Indonesia by bringing both its racers, Jorge Lorenzo and Andrea Dovizioso. He seemed to be overwhelmed by the welcome from MotoGP fans in Indonesia.
"In February I was in Indonesia with Lorenzo and Dovizioso for an event," he said.
"Fans were really fond of MotoGP, especially men," he said. "We have a number of projects for the circuit, hopefully there will be a final decision in 2019," he said.
A discourse of Indonesia to host the MotoGP has long been rolling. But so far no sign of it will be realized.
