JAKARTA, NNC – Surprising steps from Mitra Kukar team. The Borneo club is officially bringing in former Sevilla striker Fernando Rodriguez Ortega.
Fernando Rodriguez Ortega is now officially part of Mitra Kukar after both parties signed an agreement on Sunday (1/7/2018). According to the official Twitter account of Mitra Kukar, Ortega's contract signing was done at Thistle Hotel, Johor Bahru, Malaysia.
"Mitra Kukar FC officially obtained the signature of a striker from Spain, who will strengthen the Dragon Mekes Team for the 2018 season competition," said Mitra Kukar statement.
The arrival of Fernando of course will strengthen Mitra Kukar even more. Fernando will also add a strong latin at Mitra Kukar as the team has already recruited Spanish coach, Rafael Berges Marin on December 2017.
"Fernando is contracted for one season with an extension option," Mitra Kukar continued.
As a 30-year-old player, Fernando is very experienced in Europe, especially in Spain. The former Sevilla FC player has felt the tight atmosphere of La Liga competition.
In fact, while playing in the Copa Del Rey, he scored against Spanish giants Barcelona when he was with Cartagena in the 2013/2014 season.
Last season, Fernando played for a Filipino club, Ceres Negros FC. He also brought the club to the Philippines League after beating the Global Cebu FA, 4-1, in the final game.
