KHARKIV, NNC – Although Manchester City has ensured themselves a spot in the Top 16 of the Champions League, they are still eager for victory in the final match of the Group F preliminary round.
In the last game, they would face Shakhtar Donetsk. Manchester City does not want a draw or lose at Shakhtar’s headquarters.
Manchester City will close the group phase by facing Shakhtar at Metalist Stadium, Kharkiv, on Thursday (12/7/2017) early morning Western Indonesia Time (WIB). This match would decide the fate of Shakhtar and Napoli, two teams who are struggling to go through the group phase.
Shakhtar just needed a draw with City to qualify. Meanwhile, Napoli will expect Shakhtar to lose and at the same time they have to beat Feyenoord.
"We only play to win, I guarantee, sooner or later, we will lose, but we will recover the next day," Pep Guardiola said on City's official website.
"I can promise, we will try to win the game," said the City manager.
"We are going to Ukraine to win the game and I guarantee you we will prepare ourselves mentally to win," Guardiola added.
