PURWOKERTO, NNC - Most of the people had probably just fallen asleep when an earthquake shook most areas of Java.
The Indonesia Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reported that a tectonic earthquake of 6.9-magnitude on the Richter Scale (SR) occurred on Friday (12/15/2017) at 23:47.
BMKG analysis found the earthquake’s epicenter at 7.75 south latitude and 108.11 east longitude.
The epicenter was located on land at a distance of six kilometers southeast of Bantarkalong, Tasikmalaya regency, West Java, at a depth of 107 kilometers.
Moch Riyadi, Head of BMKG’s Earthquake and Tsunami Center, announced on Saturday morning that based on the BMKG shakemap map, the map indicated that the impact of earthquakes that was felt in various regions.
The regions include Jakarta, Bandung, Depok, Kebumen, as well as Yogyakarta.
Until Saturday, at 01.05.39 Indonesian western time, BMKG monitoring reported three aftershocks, with the greatest strength of 3.4 SR.
BMKG had issued a tsunami early warning not long after the earthquake.
