JAKARTA, NETRALNEWS.COM - Microsoft is counting the months before ending support for the Windows 7 operating system, precisely in January 2020, and have asked its users to immediately switch to Windows 10.

"All good things must end, even Windows 7. After January 14, 2020, Microsoft will no longer provide security updates or support for personal computers (PCs) running Windows 7," Microsoft said on the Windows 7 support page, quoted Wednesday (20 / 3/2019).

"But you can still enjoy the good times by moving to Windows 10," Microsoft added.

Then what if you don't switch to Windows 10 when Microsoft's support ends? Microsoft doesn't give much solution, except asking you to switch to Windows 10 or buy a new device that already uses Windows 10.

Can you still use Windows 7? Microsoft says users can still use Windows 7 even though their support has ended.

The risk is that the PC will become more vulnerable to cyber security threats. Windows 7 will still be able to operate but users will not get feature updates and security support.

With the end of support for Windows 7 in early 2020, support for Internet Explorer in Windows 7 will also end because the application is part of the operating system.

Microsoft also said that the Microsoft 365 Business application comes with free updates for Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 Pro licensed users. By buying Microsoft 365 Business, users can also update all Windows Pro operating systems without being charged a fee, according to Antara.
